Topia Names Jacky Cohen VP of People & Culture

SAN FRANCISCO (May 9, 2019) — Global Mobility Management company Topia announced today that it has appointed Jacky Cohen to the role of Vice President of People and Culture. Cohen brings more than a decade of experience in HR and people management to the role, where she will guide Topia’s strategic emphasis on employee engagement, experience and success.

The former head of People Business Partners at Lyft and HR Business Partner at Pandora, Cohen has a wealth of experience in scaling employee-centric HR operations through massive growth. As Topia accelerates its growth trajectory, Cohen’s leadership and guidance is crucial in helping the company’s people functions scale productively, effectively and seamlessly.

“There’s no question that when you invest in the success and happiness of your people, they’re much more invested in the work they’re doing and that is directly reflected in how they engage with customers and with one another,” Cohen said. “Because talent management and employee experience are at the heart of what we do here at Topia, this is a great opportunity for us to lead by example, to show our customers that we’re committed to our core values.”

On the heels of significant transformation at Topia, including a major acquisition, a complete rebrand and the transfer of leadership from co-founder Brynne Kennedy to new CEO Shawn Farshchi, formalizing people and culture strategy at the executive level is critical to Topia’s continued growth trajectory.

“Talent enablement plays a vital role in Topia’s business strategy, and therefore, it’s critical that we approach it from a high-level perspective,” Farshchi said. “Jacky’s focus on HR’s impact on business outcomes, processes and decisions makes her a key contributor and strategic partner at the executive level.”

As part of this effort, Cohen will prioritize enhancing employee engagement, establishing critical HR processes, and recruiting talent with the right skills and whose values align with Topia’s.

“My mission is to ensure our employees have an impactful, positive experience at Topia and enable them to both achieve business outcomes and grow professionally,” she said. “HR is not just an administrative function; it’s a fundamental business strategy that affects every aspect of the organization. By executing on this approach, it raises the bar for what we expect from our people, and what they expect from our People team in terms of supporting their performance and success.”

Cohen joined Topia in November 2017 as Director, People and Culture. Previously, she spent nearly two years at Lyft and five years at Pandora, including various roles related to HR, performance management, talent planning, benefits and more. She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and earned an MBA at the University of San Francisco—Masagung Graduate School of Management.
