Topia Systems grew out of its predecessor Influence, Inc. Between them the two companies have tackled a wide variety of projects, in many business areas.  Our area of interest is broader than the typical software company. This enables a true architect's view of a client's problem. Based on long experience, we deliver solutions that are cost-effective and reliable.

Recent Projects

  • Architecture for a prognosis system, capable of predicting failure in high value machinery, in particular in the windpower industry.
  • Hardware design for a multi-processor sensor board, for measuring machine vibration
  • Upgrading a content management system for a public pressure group.

Our ideal project

  • If a client asks for a way to extract useful predictions from 50 billion inputs per day, from 5 thousand distributed sources, we'll tackle it.
  • When a client needs to analyze 1000 billion datapoints, and present real-time data displays and trends to multiple sites, and still be resistant to network or hard-drive failure, we're on board.
  • If a client would like a combination of sensor devices, back-haul protocols, and data storage and processing, we can deliver the whole picture.
  • Or if a client wants to survey the web to gather intelligence in a particular market, or watch news trends, we can do that.

Windpower Prognosis

Topia Systems recently developed plans for a monitoring system for high value machinery, especially for the windpower industry

Large Wind Turbine

Special hardware reads its configuration, then efficiently sends sensor data to a custom server that handles reformatting and data storage.  For a long-running system such as this, server or network failure is expected, so provision is made to failover to alternative storage sites. Data processing and display are integrated into the architecture, to provide a low-latency and very responsive view of system status, 24x365.
